You're mad about music and have rhythm running through your veins. This BTEC Diploma in Music Production is perfect for you if you want to gain a realistic insight into the music industry, covering studio production and engineering, the music business and music creation. This course is delivered in association with the YMCA Recording Studios and benefits from their expertise in music production training.
In our new state-of-the-art digital studios, you’ll be in the hub of all things musical and gain expert tuition across the industry, including song writing and ways to enhance your individual style. You’ll have access to our new fully-equipped recording studios, rehearsal rooms and education suite. You will be working with
industry-standard equipment such as iMacs, Logic Pro and Protools software as well as a wide variety of mastering and production plug-ins and Universal Audio.
The YMCA Recording Studios boasts two fully sound-proofed control rooms, a large vocal booth and one of the largest live rooms in the region. Throughout the course you will enhance your existing musical skills whilst developing and perfecting your knowledge to gain an in-depth understanding of the music industry and associated career opportunities.
Successful completion of the BTEC Level 2 in Music; or 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including music; or equivalent.
An enthusiasm and strong interest in music and music production as well as an interview are required.
You will be assessed by a series of individual and team practical tasks and assignments.
Further study could lead to Foundation Degree level at college or university, or to work in the music industry.
Careers in music are extremely diverse - you may work in a recording studio as an engineer or producer, in a record company, or as an artist or a supporting musician.
