Course content

Graphic Design involves the use of images and words to attract, persuade, promote or entertain. So, if you’re interested in music artwork, poster design, street art, logo design and much more, this is the course for you.

You will experiment with a broad range of styles using industry standard software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

You will be encouraged to take an experimental approach to designing with both traditional and digital methods.

Progression & careers

HND in Graphic Design, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, Foundation Degree in Fine Art, Degree in Graphic Design / Multimedia / Illustration and Animation / Advertising Design.

Careers include: Graphic Design, Illustrator, Web Designer and a variety of roles in Marketing and Advertising environment.

Study units

Themed project and an externally set assignment.

Independently selected practical work, written study and an externally set assignment.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs Grade A* to C and a portfolio of work.

Assessment

Component 1: Coursework.

Component 2: Externally set examination, ending with a 10 hour exam split over two weeks to complete a final piece.

Component 3: Coursework, practical work and a written study of 1500-3000 words.

Component 4: Externally set examination ending with a 15 hour exam split over two weeks to complete a final piece.
